Fried Cabbage With Shrimp, Sausage, and Bacon

  • 5 slices bacon, chopped

  • 12 oz smoked sausage or kielbasa, sliced

  • 1/2 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • 1 medium yellow onion, sliced

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 small head green cabbage, chopped

  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tsp seafood seasoning (like Old Bay)

  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano

  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Instructions:

 

  1. In a large skillet, cook bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.

  2. Add sausage to the bacon fat and brown both sides. Remove and set aside.

  3. Add shrimp and cook just until pink, 2–3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

  4. Melt butter in the skillet. Add onion, sauté until soft. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds more.

  5. Add cabbage and cook 10–12 minutes, until tender and browned in spots.

  6. Season with vinegar, seafood seasoning, paprika, oregano, red pepper, salt, and pepper.

  7. Add bacon and sausage back to the pan. Stir to combine. Gently fold in shrimp and warm through.

  8. Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve hot.
