8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup apple pie filling, chopped into smaller pieces
For the Pies:
1 package (16 ounces) pie dough or biscuit dough
2–3 cups vegetable oil for frying
For Topping:
Caramel sauce for drizzling
Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
Make Filling: In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and cinnamon until smooth. Chop apple pie filling into smaller pieces.
Prepare Dough: Roll out pie dough or biscuit dough. Cut into 4-inch circles using a cookie cutter or glass.
Fill Pies: Place 1 tablespoon cream cheese mixture and a spoonful of apple filling on one half of each dough circle. Fold over to create half-moon shapes.
Seal Edges: Press edges together with fingers, then crimp with a fork to seal completely.
Heat Oil: Pour oil into a large skillet to 1-inch depth. Heat to 350 degrees over medium heat.
Fry: Carefully add 2-3 pies to hot oil. Fry 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove with slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Top and Serve: Drizzle with caramel sauce and dust with powdered sugar. Serve warm.
